What is DoggyChef?
Doggy and Kitty Chef (Pty) Ltd, trading as DoggyChef, is a South African pet food company that makes real, raw and par-cooked meals for cats and dogs. Food is prepared to order at its production kitchen in Brits, North West, and delivered frozen to homes in Gauteng and Cape Town.
What kind of food does DoggyChef make?
DoggyChef makes prey-appropriate raw and par-cooked food from 100% natural ingredients: free-range muscle meat, chicken, organ meat, lamb, venison green tripe, bone meal, fresh fruit and vegetables, egg and krill. The range covers meals, grinds, patties, meatballs, nose-to-tail prey, raw bones, tripe, treats and supplements.
Is DoggyChef food certified and safe?
Yes. DoggyChef meals are registered and certified with the South African Department of Agriculture under Act 36 of 1947. All raw ingredients are fit for human consumption and sourced from certified suppliers, with no processing beyond cutting, grinding and mincing to keep the food as natural as possible.
How does ordering and the subscription work?
You can buy individual products once-off from the online shop, or subscribe to a pre-portioned plan delivered monthly. Subscriptions are tailored to each pet’s age, breed, weight and activity level through a personalised quote, removing the need to measure meals, and you can cancel at any time.
Where does DoggyChef deliver?
DoggyChef delivers frozen food to homes across Gauteng and Cape Town. In Gauteng, deliveries run daily in closer zones and take five to seven working days in outer zones. Same-day delivery is also available on selected products in Gauteng through its on-demand partner, City Fuel.
How is the food kept frozen during delivery?
All DoggyChef food is frozen and delivered through The Frozen Food Courier (previously known as Blue Sage Couriers), a specialised temperature-controlled courier. This cold-chain delivery keeps meals frozen from the production kitchen to your door, preserving freshness, texture and nutritional integrity without preservatives.
Who is behind DoggyChef?
DoggyChef is owned by Franki Marais, a Certified Raw Dog Food Nutrition Specialist through DNM University with over ten years of experience formulating balanced raw meals. She runs the business alongside Kobus, who leads product development and research, and a dedicated production team based in Brits.
